A newbie Internet marketer without question, typically will make the following two mistakes automatically: 1) Not choosing a niche market to stick with it and 2) Not using keyword research as a general guide to construct their articles (or build their blog/website) and effectively use keyword phrases in the title and throughout the article...

Above and beyond losing focus or not concentrating ones efforts on a niche market which one is familiar with or where one can quickly gain a certain level of "expert" knowledge in order to write a substantial number of problem solving articles, a newbie affiliate marketer will also make the following major mistakes...

1. Following the latest greatest shiny object

Affiliate marketing is a business where you can make money, but beware that you will have to work for it...No matter how many people try to sell you a "magic button" or promise you that they "will do all of the work for you", I implore you to think about it logically...If it were truly a "magic button" that would make you rich beyond your wildest dreams overnight, would they share it with you???...Instead of following the herds of wishful thinkers that want easy money with no work, I advise you to use your head and save your money for investing in your business after you actually have a business to invest in...FREE and effective tips and tricks of the internet marketing trade can be found at Pat Flynn, Erica Stone and Ana Hoffman's websites...

2. Not knowing what's in your contract/affiliate agreement to make more money with Internet marketing

Newbie affiliate marketers tend to make fatal business decisions which limit/restrict their potential income streams...Rumor has it that "cloaking" your affiliate links will decrease your commissions/sales earned through both Amazon and ClickBank...There are many different opinions and recommendations on the subject...I think it is better to be safe than sorry, so avoid cloaking your affiliate links for those two affiliate programs and be sure to read the "fine print" for any other affiliate programs to make sure you are not in violation...I for one originally liked the idea of using Bitly to track clicks/traffic sources, but have since decided to discontinue using Bitly altogether...Also be aware that certain data from Amazon cannot be published on your site without using their Product Advertising API...A violation/breach of contract could be detrimental to your online internet marketing business...Also, AdSense Ads have restrictions on how many per page and placement within the page so beware of this too...

3. Not being organized in your approach to grow your online business
  • You must have a plan...
  • You must have a focus/niche market...
  • You must test and track your marketing efforts to see what is working...
  • You must capture and grow your list of like minded people that are interested in what you have to share so that you have the option of marketing your latest beneficial offer/product to them in the future...
 4. Mis-educating yourself about how to make extra money online and grow your business

   The best free resources for coming up to speed, in content creation, traffic generation and making sales, that I recommend are from the folks that i mentioned above...You can read their blogs and subscribe/opt-in to their email subscription lists so that you can receive their latest and greatest FREE tips, tricks and recommendations...While the best motivational book that I have read is "The Millionaire Fastlane: Crack the Code to Wealth and Live Rich for a Lifetime"...




 5. Inaction or not enough of the right kind of action

   First of all if you do nothing, you will get nothing...Therefore you must take action...But what should you do and when???...Or how should you spend your time???...Having been at this for a while now, the word on the street is that you should spend most of your time promoting your website, your affiliate offer, your product or your brand...Say for instance that you decide to write an eBook (this is your digital product), you should take no more than two weeks to complete it and have it ready to market and sell for profits...After your product is completed, then the majority of your time and effort should be spent marketing your product...At the top of your sales funnel is where you should plan and execute a killer landing page, where you include a heart wrenching title that crystallizes the benefit that your product exudes in solving the problem of your potential buyer...A properly designed, well-written landing page with the best possible layout is critical to converting your traffic from visitors to buyers...So you will have to dedicate some time and effort in implementing a high-conversion landing page to make more money through product sales...





After your product is complete and your landing page is complete, you should spend 20% of your time on product development/refinement, 20% of your time on motivational education and 60% of your time promoting your product/offer...
